Refund and Billing Policy

How top ups, pricing, value added tax, refunds, and the consumer right of withdrawal work for the Chernion prepaid balance, with particular care around crypto top ups and immediately started digital services.

1. The prepaid model

Chernion runs on a prepaid balance. You add funds in advance, and usage is drawn down from the balance at the per token rate for the model you use. The balance covers the API, the hosted chat, and the coding command line agent. There is no subscription requirement for pay as you go use and no minimum top up.

2. Top ups and how they are credited

You can top up in two ways:

  • Card and supported wallets, through our payment service provider. You are redirected to a hosted checkout, you pay, and your balance is credited once the payment is confirmed.
  • Cryptocurrency, through our hosted crypto checkout. You pay in the coin you choose, and your balance is credited automatically once the transaction confirms on the relevant network. Supported assets currently include Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Solana, Tether, and USD Coin, including USD Coin on the Solana network.

For a crypto payment you must send the exact amount quoted. The trailing digits of the quoted amount identify your payment, so sending a different amount, or sending on the wrong network, can delay or prevent crediting and may make recovery impossible.

3. Pricing and charges

Each model is priced as a fixed percentage of that provider's official list price for that model, so the price can change when the provider's price changes or when we change the percentage. The current per token price is shown in the product and applies at the time of each call. The exact cost of each call is metered and returned with the response, so your spend is visible to the token. You spend down the balance you have already paid for; we do not invoice you after the fact for pay as you go usage.

4. Value added tax and invoices

Chernion is a Netherlands digital service, so value added tax is applied at checkout where it is due. The amount you enter is the net credit you receive, and value added tax is added on top, so the gross total is shown before you pay. A value added tax invoice is issued and emailed when payment is made, and your invoices are available in the dashboard. A business customer with a validated value added tax number may qualify for the reverse charge, in which case no value added tax is added and the invoice shows the reverse charge treatment.

5. Crypto top ups are generally non refundable

A cryptocurrency transaction settles on a public network and cannot be reversed by us once it is confirmed. For that reason, crypto top ups are non refundable once the transaction has confirmed and your balance has been credited. If a payment fails, expires, or is sent incorrectly, contact us at [email protected] and we will help where we reasonably can, but we cannot guarantee recovery of crypto sent to the wrong address, in the wrong amount, or on the wrong network.

6. Card top ups

For a card or wallet top up, we may, at our discretion and where the law does not require otherwise, refund the unused part of a balance to the original payment method, after deducting any amount already spent and any non recoverable payment processing cost. Contact [email protected] with your request. This is separate from your statutory rights described in section 7, which always apply where they apply.

7. Consumer right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you normally have a period of fourteen days to withdraw from a distance contract for a digital service. The service is a digital service that you can begin using immediately once your balance is credited.

Before you pay, the checkout asks you to tick a box, which is not ticked by default, confirming that you ask us to make the balance available and begin the service straight away, and that you understand you lose the right of withdrawal for the part of the service that has been fully performed, that is, for the balance you have already spent on usage. We record this acknowledgement together with a timestamp alongside your payment, so there is evidence the consent was given at the moment of purchase. You must tick it to complete a payment.

Where you withdraw in time and have not yet used the balance, we will refund what you paid for the unused balance. Where you have used part of the balance, the used part is treated as fully performed and is not refundable, and any genuinely unused remainder is handled as set out above. Crypto specific limits in section 5 still apply to the practical means of any refund. Nothing here removes a mandatory consumer right you have under Dutch law.

8. Balance validity

We do not aim to expire a paid balance, and a paid prepaid balance does not carry an expiry date at the date of this draft. If we ever introduce dormancy or expiry for unused balances, we will give clear advance notice and apply it only as the law allows. Promotional or free credits may carry their own expiry and conditions, which we will state when they are granted.

9. Chargebacks

If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us first at [email protected] so we can resolve it quickly. Starting a chargeback or payment dispute without contacting us may lead us to suspend your account while the dispute is open. Where a chargeback reverses a payment for a balance you have already spent, we may recover the shortfall and may suspend or close the account, as the law allows.

10. Membership tiers

Where a membership tier is offered, its price, billing period, and cancellation terms are shown when you buy it. You can cancel a membership to stop future charges, and any statutory withdrawal right for the membership is handled in the same way as section 7.
